Paris fashion museum Galliera will unveil a tribute Friday in a temporary location (while its remodeling is underway) — Les Docks, Cité de la Mode et du Design, tucked in the city’s 13th arrondissement. The show, “Cristóbal , Collectionneur de Modes” (or “Cristóbal , Collector of Fashion,”), commemorates the 40th anniversary of the death of the house’s founder and his love of Spanish history. It is sponsored by and its parent company PPR Group.

More than 70 Spanish costumes and clothing items dating from the 18th to 20th centuries — including velvet boleros, capes and satin torero outfits — that the designer collected are to be displayed alongside 40 couture coats and dresses he created between 1937 and 1968. The exhibit runs until Oct. 7 as part of Galliera’s extramural series. A joint ticket to “Cristóbal , Collectionneur de Modes” and an exhibit on Comme des Garçons’ Rei Kawakubo, which also opens in the same location on Friday, is 6 euros, or $7.85 at current exchange.
